My last visit to Billy Goat’s Tavern & Grill in Chicago Illinois was in 2009. Last weekend we ventured back in during our weekend stay on the Magnificent Mile. Personally I’ll take a Krekel Burger over a Billy Goat burger any day. But you can’t beat the atmosphere inside the World Famous Billy Goat. Service is always very polite and your order gets to you fast.
I know there are definitely less tourist type locations that should be explored in Chicago. We never spend enough time in town to learn about these. It might be time to do some research into lesser known treasures before our next visit.
Last Saturday was a horrible day to take a walk to Billy Goat’s Tavern from the Chicago Omni Hotel. A light rain was coming down steady with cold temperatures – definitely wasn’t walking friendly. But we ventured a few blocks down from the hotel to the Billy Goat.
In 2009 you could leave the Goat, head up the stairs and see two very large iconic statues. One of these was American Gothic. The second was the somewhat controversial Marilyn Monroe Sculpture ( Forever Marilyn ). Both are now gone and there isn’t much left in that area – just an open plaza. Supposedly a replacement sculpture might show up in the future.
On our way back to the hotel we came across the Cupcakes for Courage food truck.
