Registration for the 2008 Gnomedex conference has gone live this evening. Whispers of updates coming soon for Gnomedex 8.0 had been heard last week. An email was sent out earlier this evening to previous Gnomedex attendees about early registration. This has been the custom for all the years I have attended. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem that Blogher follows this example. Which is part of the reason I most likely won’t be attending that conference again when it is in San Francisco this year. As it stands now Gnomedex will be a stretch to attend. Although I was called out on this in person last year. I will state as I always do that money is always tight in my household. Which is mostly do to the fact that I never seem to make any.

Yes we do stay in an expensive hotel when we are in Seattle. And we do stay for more than just the conference dates. It needs to be kept in mind that this is our once a year vacation. So we do tend to make the best of it. Last year we were even fortunate enough to get a room upgrade at the Edgewater Hotel as a thank you for our business over the past three years. But just because we spend a lot of of money on this yearly event does not mean that money is flowing in by the bundles. Far from it. However I would strongly state that I am more than aware of the fact of how things may look. This is because those who might question things aren’t aware of all the facts. I’ve mentioned this for two reasons. The first being a comment was made to me last year at the Gnomedex 7.0 Seattle Aquarium event in regards to the subject. I understood why the comment was made. Yet I think things would have been seen slightly different if the full story had been told. The second reason I mention everything above is because the price for Gnomedex 8.0 is higher than last year. Even for long time attendees.

If your a previous Gnomedex attendee you should have an email in your inbox that has an early registration code. As far as I’m aware the current pricing listed is discounted. Even though there is an area within the registration page that has the option to enter a discount code.

Currently there are 88 tickets for sale at the price of $549.00. A handling fee of $9.95 will also be added to your ticket purchase. This ticket type is called Pre-Registered Gnomedex Alumni.

The other option available at a later date is the Gnomedex Attendee ticket. This will cost $599.00 plus the $9.95 processing fee. This ticket type is currently not on sale.

To compare this years price with last years. I paid a total of $458.95 for a Gnomedex Alumni ticket to attend Gnomedex 7.0.

Gnomedex 8.0 will once again be taking place at the Bell Harbor Conference Center in Seattle. This is right next door to the Edgewater Hotel. Actually you have the Bell Street Pier Cruise Terminal Pier 66 next door to the Edgewater Hotel then the Bell Harbor Conference Center. So there is a little less than half a block walk from the hotel to the event. The opening night Gnomedex mixer is always held at the Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center which shares a building with the Bell Harbor. I’m not sure if this will be the venue again this year for opening night. Last year I got to the party almost as it was closing down. Cheryl and I were at a private get together at the Waterfront Seafood Grill. This restaurant is in the same building where the Real World Seattle was filmed.

Go Seattle Card – Save 15% Now! This sale ends in 7 days. There hasn’t been one year yet where a Gnomedex attendee was nice enough to buy a Go Seattle Card for their family from me. And you can trust me when I say over the years many Gnomedex attendees have family seeing the sites in Seattle. Ever year Cheryl and I purchase this pass for our Seattle trip.
