Are you tired of having to peel off labels on fruit and vegetables? Well the solution to your misery is now available at some national chains. You can now find laser-etched fruit and vegetables at Wal-mart, Costco, Safeway and Publix. This new technology emits a precisely controlled laser light that removes the pigment layer of the fruit or vegetable. This allows for the etching of information onto these items. The print is edible and won’t cause the food to spoil. To me this all seems a bit weird. To sci-fi I guess. I’m sure I’ll get used to it. This seems to be something that we are going to see more of. Producers I’m sure will find some way to add marketing to this new technique. I’ve not see this in any local store yet. Sooner or later I’m sure I’ll run into this new technology. The next time your in the produce aisle keep your eye out for these new fruit tattoos.
