I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Someone decided to drive a Segway after they had to much to drink. While rolling down the road an officer notices Segway operator driving a little erratically and pulls it over. I’d not seen this in news previously as far as I’m aware. Incident took place in May of 2003. It seems that in North Carolina you can ride a horse, bicycle or lawn mower while under influence. This man’s lawyer tried to argue that a Segway is not a motorized vehicle. That it was more like a lawn mower. So his client shouldn’t be charged with a DUI ( driving under the influence ). In my area I know we have had at least two people ticketed for DUI while riding a bicycle.
