Tornado Intercept Vehicle (TIV) St Louis Science Center

These photos show the ins and outs of the storm chasing Tornado Intercept Vehicle (TIV) on August 7, 2011 at St Louis Science Center. Many people commented on how much smaller the vehicle looked in person. Others seemed surprised by how cramped the seating conditions were. It’s very easy to tell when watching Storm Chasers that the TIV would be less than a comfortable riding experience. The actual seats look comfortable enough. But there is definitely not much room to move around. What is surprising – is that after spending a couple of months in these close quarters the occupants haven’t assaulted each other.
