Blogher technical session destroying the RSS explanation

I swear the people here are going to be more confused than enlightened. They keep using the word feed instead of RSS. Yes it is true most people have no clue what RSS is. But we aren’t helping the cause by confusing the audience. It is good to let people know how to put RSS to use. But it is also helpful to let people know what RSS is. It is also a good thing to let people know to look for the RSS icon. There needs to be a standard. If we are sending readers to all these different services they will never understand RSS and it’s related icon. It’s also interesting that no one has mentioned how RSS helps you to receive better search engine results. Many search engines now use RSS to keep their content fresh. No mention was made of how you can use IE 7 or Firefox to read RSS feeds without having to be tied to a specific service.
