On November 19, 2011 we spent the evening at the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel. This was our second stay this month. We had a holiday party to attend in downtown Springfield and figured we just stay the night close to that location. Once again check in was painless and quick. This time our room was on the seventh floor – 717. From the video you can see the interior is exactly the same. You also see the same exact bathroom issues. Slight stain in the corner, what looks to be mildew on tiles, tub bottom black and floor tiles are old and needing a refurbish. The video shows that behind the door the wall has seen some abuse – a paint touch up is needed. On the plus side there was a notepad with a pen this time. Unlike the last room we stayed in – we couldn’t get 717 to cool down. Might be an unusual request this time of year – but the room was way to hot. This was very evident the next day after taking bags down to the parking garage and coming back into the room.

Once again we checked in between room service and restaurant hours. So we went across the street for lunch at Bennigan’s located inside the Hilton. After we got back from our holiday party we headed to The Globe Tavern. Do to construction – actually full demolition of the old Globe Tavern – the bar is currently located and tucked away inside the former highend restaurant area. The name of that former restaurant escapes me at the moment and I can’t find any reference online. Basically The Globe is located right across the hall from it’s long time location. There is plenty of signage guiding you to the bar.
