For many years I’ve wanted to explore the Monticello Railway Museum. After a good number of years driving by on Illinois I-72 and seeing the trains – I finally got a chance to see them up close. This video shows the American Locomotive Works Engine #1 that sits at the highway entrance for the museum. From here you drive left past a restaurant, gas station and then you come up to a rock quarry. At the quarry you’ll see various types of railroad stock. Until that point you might wonder were the museum is hidden. Take the road further down heading to the right and you’ll find what you are looking for.
