The video above was taken from a window on the 12th floor of the President Abraham Lincoln Hotel in Springfield Illinois. Last year the First Night fireworks were cancelled do to high winds. The weather for New Years Eve 2012 wasn’t exactly the best – but wind speed was low enough to allow for the show to take place.
Sometime before 3AM what I assume would have been unexploded shells were shot off. No colorful display – just a very loud set of bangs and then smoke cloud.
Have updated room video with better quality – on my list to write an article using that content.
