For a long time no one I talked to seem to know what was being built across street from Marriott Hotel and Amtrak Uptown Station. Later on I’d find out Marriott was finally getting some long overdue competition in Uptown Normal Illinois.
My video shows some of the construction process and what Hyatt Place looks like completed. I didn’t dig up all my construction footage – just a small portion.
Most of the video was shot from Marriott Hotel across the street at different times. At 14:21 marker – that portion was recorded from Uptown Station parking garage.
I tried to book a room at Hyatt Place for 2015 Drive Electric BloNo Light the Night Uptown Normal ( September 2, 2015 ) – I was told property wouldn’t be opening until a few weeks after that event ( I had seen information property was opening in August ). Interesting thing about that – rooms were in fact booked for Farm Progress Show that week as a soft opening. This was mentioned to me by several people at BloNo event. And I confirmed this visually – seeing guest coming in and out of Hyatt.
Unfortunately I missed this information when I was in town a few weeks before.
