Where was the Real World in Seattle? The answer is Pier 70. Right next door used to be George Benson Waterfront Streetcar maintenance and storage facility. That is long gone and now we have concrete monstrosity known as Olympic Sculpture Park ( yes I’m aware = seawall ). Where you can find at least 2 art sculptures featuring phallic symbol. Well one looks like a dildo ( yes I know it’s a face ) ( “Echo,” by Spanish artist Jaume Plensa ) – other is a man teaching his son to swim I’d assume while both are nude ( Artist Louise Bourgeois’ fountain “Father and Son” ).
Pier 70 Home of The Real World in Seattle – has an interesting history. Several tech companies had headquarters there during Dot Com Boom and Bust.
Years ago while having dinner at Waterfront Seafood Grill now Aqua by El Gaucho – our waitress tried to tell me I was clueless when I told her – The Real World in Seattle was filmed around the corner. She swore up and down I was wrong!!
