My first Seattle Monorail ride was in 2005. I hadn’t been back to Seattle since 2008. Seattle Monorail is not a very smooth ride or quiet. It has been operating since opening on March 24, 1962 for Century 21 Exposition (also known as the Seattle World’s Fair). There have been a few incidents over it’s years of operations.
I always forget about cash only policy. You’d think nowadays – especially with many tourist – this would cause problems for those wanting to ride. Foreign travelers may even be use to making transportation payments with their cellphone. This isn’t as common in United States.
A lady was nice and let me have front row seat when she saw I would be recording. Of course like many people she thought my video camera was a photo camera. Not sure why everyone thinks my Sony Handycam is a still camera – guess it’s the monopod. Honestly I was heading for that seat before she even boarded – so not sure why she considered trying to take first dibs from me. I was polite about it – but slightly annoyed.
Recorded October 22 2015.
