Here is the sign you would come across at the beginning of the Spearfish Canyon Floor Nature Hiking Trail. If you walk behind the outside deck of the Latchstring Restaurant you will come to this area. When heading to the left from the parking lot across the street from Spearfish Canyon Lodge. You will be heading in the right direction. When entering the trail you will have a gradual but steep decline until you reach the canyon floor. From there the trail is flat all the way until you reach bottom of Spearfish Falls.
Spearfish Canyon is a deep but narrow gorge carved by Spearfish Creek just south of Spearfish, South Dakota, United States.
Spearfish Falls was actually one of the most popular tourist stops in the northern Black Hills around the beginning of the 19th century when a Burlington Railroad line took passengers directly over it, parts of which can still be found on the trail today.
