After being picked up at Amtrak station on my way to DeSoto Savannah for a five day stay – I recorded the Seaboard Freight Station as we drove past. Just a little further down road you will see Georgia State Railroad Museum on right side when coming into Savannah from this direction.
Luckily I recorded this piece of history last year. Savannah Georgia Metropolitan Planning Commission has approved demolition of this 90-year-old freight terminal.
I’m not sure if structure has decayed to point of not being able to be repurposed. But a developer would rather tear it down and put a seven-story apartment building in it’s place.
The Seaboard Freight Station is located just outside of Savannah’s protected Historic District.
