An old friend called me yesterday to let me know that New Kids on the Block were bring their reunion tour to the Assembly Hall in Champaign, Ill. The concert will take place Apr 5, 2009 (Sunday). For the record I have never been to a New Kids on the Block concert. But as I mentioned previously I did in fact meet and talk to the band years ago right before they hit superstardom. Love them or hate them there is no denying their place in music history.
I haven’t checked prices at Ticketmaster or the Assembly Hall box office. What I did do was check two of my affiliates to see what they had tickets priced at. Imagine my surprise when I saw that a good floor 2 seat was going for $693 on one site while the other had the same type of ticket listed at $777. Is there really that much markup? I’m well aware that consumers are willing to pay these prices. So I guess you can’t blame someone for taking advantage of that fact. Although from a consumers perspective this is bordering close to the line of what should be considered legal. Of course last year there was a big uproar about this subject in regards to Hannah Montana tickets.
I’ll have to see what prices the Assembly Hall has tickets selling at and their availability before passing judgment in this case. From what I am seeing at this time I won’t be purchasing any New Kids on the Block tickets from my affiliates. The commission of course would be sweet. So if you know someone who really wants to see this band and has money to burn. Please send them here to purchase their tickets. I’m always in need of money to help pay the bills.
