On way home last weekend we stopped in Galesburg, IL for gas. On way out to Las Vegas I saw some old trains at Galesburg Amtrak station. Next door to Amtrak terminal is Galesburg Railroad Museum. This is where we went to visit after fueling up car. There were two old gentleman having a discussion and looking over various trains at museum when I got there. We had originally parked in Amtrak lot. It’s just a short walk to railroad museum from there. Museum does have it’s own parking located right in front of trains. You can easily take pictures of all trains in the collection. But you really should consider paying admission fee and getting a guided tour. Unfortunately we didn’t have time for this the other day. Prices are $5 for adults, Youth 8 – 16 $2, 7 and under get in free with adult paid admission.
Once I saw Burlington Route logo I knew I had seen something similar before. In Sheridan, WY across from Sheridan Inn you will find another Chicago Burlington and Quincy locomotive. I’ll provide pictures and history of that machine at a later time.
