$465 Million Loan to Tesla Motors from US Department of Energy

Tesla Motors finally got it’s long awaited loan from the United States Department of Energy. This amount of money is nowhere near the billions of dollars given to Ford Motor and Nissan North America. Hopefully now that financing has been made available Tesla Motors can start building production facilities for it’s Model S. Unfortunately we are at least 2 years away from mass production of this sedan. If there are any delays in construction this will of course put that time frame into an even bigger tailspin. As it stands now if the GM Volt & Nissan Leaf hold to their release dates. These two companies will have a competitive jump on the alternative vehicle market.
